Recall that the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Frank Mba, in a statement released yesterday August 7th, said Police Operatives, led by ASP Felix Adolije of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), came under sudden attack by soldiers along Ibi–Jalingo Road on August 5th. According to Mba,  police team were in the state to effect the arrest of  a notorious kidnap kingpin named Alhaji Hamisu.  Mba said the Army officers saw them effecting the arrest, attacked the police officers and released the arrested kidnapper.

He added that three Policemen comprising one Inspector and two Sergeants and one civilian died as a result of gunshot injuries sustained in the attack while others sustained serious gunshot wounds.

The Nigerian Army has however denied the allegation. A statement from the Army headquarters earlier today, said the military officers thought the police officers were kidnappers.
