Kidnapped Abia APC Chairman Regains Freedom

Chief Donatus Nwankpa, the abducted chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, has regained his freedom, Punch Metro reports.

Nwankpa was reportedly kidnapped together with one of his aides on Monday night on his way to Aba, the commercial hub of the state, few hours to the visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to the state.

His abductors later released his aide who sustained some injuries.

His party men had pleaded with his abductors to also release him unconditionally, saying he is a good man that is loved by all.

The Publicity Secretary of the Party in the state, Mr. Benedict Godson, told Punch Metro on Friday that Nwampka was released on Thursday night.

He said no ransom was paid, adding that he was in good health when he came out.

“We also want to thank our governorship candidate and other leaders of the party in the state for standing with us since he was kidnapped.
