Father defiles two-year-old daughter in Lagos

Police in Lagos have arrested a man, Peter Adida, for allegedly defiling his two-year-old daughter.

Adida, a resident of 9, Oyetayo Olafisoye Street, Westwood Estate in Badore, Ajah area of the state, was arrested on November 17 by Langbasa Divisional Police Officer (DPO), SP Ada Okafor.
The police have also arrested a suspected armed robber who was pushed out of a moving vehicle by his colleagues.

It was learnt that preliminary investigations revealed the baby Adida abused was infected with a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STI).

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), CSP Chike Oti, said the victim pointed at her father when she was asked by a female officer “who did it to her”.
“The baby was able to describe various sex positions with dad,” he added.

Oti said the Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, had directed that the matter be transferred to Gender Unit of the command for investigation.
Edgal, however, admonished parents and guardians to watch their children closely as predators were on the increase.

Oti said: “Similarly, armed robbers on November 15, about 2.40a.m., went to burgle a shop situated at Maya, on Ijebu-Ode Road, Ikorodu, in a Mazda bus with registration number KRD 783 XW and started breaking the shop.”

The operation of the armed robbers was, however, aborted midway when policemen on pin-down duty near the scene alerted the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Sagamu Road Police Station, CSP Adekunle Omisakin, who quickly mobilised to the scene with a team of anti-crime policemen and engaged the robbers in a shootout.

Oti said when the robbers couldn’t take more of the fire exchange from the police they jumped into their car and drove off.

The PPRO said the police team chased them; along the way, the robbers pushed one of their colleagues with bullet injury, who they thought had died, out of their moving vehicle.

He said: “The police team rescued the suspect, revived him and gave his name as Yusuf Nasiru (34). When searched, a knife and some charms were recovered from him.”

Oti said the suspect was thereafter taken to the hospital for medical care.

Meanwhile, the suspect, miffed by what his gang members did to him, decided to cooperate with the police by giving useful information.
Edgal congratulated the DPO and his team for frustrating the plans of the robbers and for their timely response.

The commissioner, however, assured Lagosians of peaceful ember months; adding that the crime preventing strategy of his administration was structured to ensure that the command remained the last bus stop for unrepentant criminals.
