The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris could find himself behind bars if the court has its way with him following the notorious Offa Robbery.
A Kwara state high court has threatened Idris with possible jail time after the top Policeman refused to obey the court’s order to release Mr Olalekan Alabi, Personal Assistant on Political Matters to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed who was arrested in connection to the robbery.
In a Notice of Consequences of Disobedience of Order of Court (Form 48) dated 10th August, 2018, the court threatened the IGP with possible jail time
The Notice read: “Take notice that unless you obey the directions contained in the order of the High Court of Justice of Kwara State delivered on the 1st of August, 2018, you will be guilty of contempt of court and will be liable to be committed to prison.”
Alabi has been in custody since the 30th of May on the orders of Idris
Recall that on the 5th of April, scores of people lost their lives as a huge gang of robbers stormed 5 banks in Offa, Kwara state stealing valuables and killing people before making their getaway
Alabi had been arrested in connection with the robbery, but had since been granted bail by a court to the tune of N20 million naira, however, the police have since failed to release him
