A Senator representing Anambra South senatorial district under the umbrella of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Andy Uba has finally dumped his party for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra state.
The senator who is currently serving his second term at the National Assembly has registered in his Uga ward in Aguata local government area of the state in the ongoing APC registration exercise which would end on Saturday.
Following the party’s stakeholders’ meeting in Awka, other political bigwigs in the state who were eyeing the party’s ticket for the forthcoming governorship election in the state had also joined in the registration exercise.
They included Hon. Tony Nwoye, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, Chief Barth Nwibe, Dr Obinna Uzor, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah among others. Old members like the Minister of Labour and Employment, Sen. Chris Ngige, APC National auditor and governorship hopeful, Chief George Muoghalu have also revalidated their membership of the party.
The chairman of the five-member APC registration committee in Anambra and former deputy governor of Abia state, Dr. Chris Akomas while addressing journalists yesterday said that the exercise was a success as Anambra had become an APC state. The exercise flagged off on Friday last week, had attracted commissioners, former local government chairmen and Chieftains of other political parties to APC.
