Head of the Efficiency Unit , , Patience Oniha has just revealed that the federal government has saved about N15 billion in about a year from over bloated travel costs and allowances of government workers
Oniha said the sum was realised through the activities of the Efficiency Unit under the Federal Ministry of Finance.
She disclosed this at the sidelines of the Cost Management on Overhead Expenditure for Permanent Secretaries, Chief Executive Officers of Departments and Agencies, in Abuja yesterday.
She said:
“The Efficiency unit has saved some N15 billion especially from travels and allowances. We hope to save additional N15 billion going forward.”
Speaking at the programme, the Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun said effort are being put in place by the Fedral Government to control Nigeria’s recurrent expenditure as it would soon give new new template on approved expenses for government-owned enterprises.
