No ransom was paid for rescue of abducted Lagos landlords – AIG

The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Abdulmajid Ali, on Friday said no ransom was paid before the landlords kidnapped in a Lagos State estate were released.
Ali, in a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Zone 2 Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, rather commended the officer deployed for the operation for their steadfastness and professionalism.

The victims, who are landlords at Oshorun Heritage Estate, are Kennedy Ucheagwu, Dr. Omololu Bello and another simply identified as Mr. Esang.
They were kidnapped last week Saturday.

They were then seen on Thursday night leaving the waterside through which their kidnappers clad in Army uniform took to abduct them.

Ali in the statement by Adejobi said commended the operatives involved in the rescue operation in his office on Friday.

The AIG reassured the residents of the area of adequate security, saying he has deployed large number of police operatives from Lagos and Ogun States Commands and the Zonal Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos to the area to fortify its security.

The police boss had earlier met with the leaders of the communities in the area on Thursday and approved the immediate construction of a police station, with the help of the communities, for adequate protection of lives and property of the more than 100,000 residents in the affected communities and promised them of necessary steps to be taken to dislodge and suppress the hoodlums who terrorise innocent Nigerians in the riverine areas within the zone.

Ali reiterated his commitment to sustain the fight against violent crimes and social vices in the zonal command and promote community policing principles that will cement the existing collaboration between the police and the general public in Lagos and Ogun States.
