News Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rorh, Demands 3 Months Salary Advance

0

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may be heading on a collision course with the new Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rorh, as the coach, we learnt, has demanded for an upward salary of three months before resuming. The demand, according to an NFF source, might not be unconnected with the penchant of the football house to owe coaches months of salaries.
The source added that the coach has told the NFF that he would pay the assistants he would be coming with as at when due, which makes it necessary for him to be assured of prompt payment of what was due to him with three months’ salary advance.

“Even though he has named the team for the Cup of Nations match against Tanzania, the coach is not comfortable with some of the stories about the NFF.

“We were told that he is demanding to be paid three months salaries in advance to enable him take care of assistants. He said he does not want to have issues with them and want to pay them as at when due.” Asked whether the demand would affect the match against Tanzania, the source said:

“It is not as if he is quarrelling with anybody or he is strict about it. He is not just comfortable yet even though Super Eagles job is quite exciting to him.

“All he is asking is for the interest of those working with him, knowing that the NFF can always come up with salary issues. For Tanzania match, he is fully committed,” the source said. Rorh was engaged after Frenchman Paul Le Guen turned down the offer to
coach the team.
