Nigeria No Longer Among Dangerous Gas Flaring Nations – NLNG Boss

Nigeria has exited the top five league of gas flaring countries in the world, Managing Director, of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Mr.  Babs Omotowa said at the weekend in Ilorin, Kwara State.
Omotowan who was in the Kwara State capital for the commissioning of a multi-million naira NLNG/University of Ilorin Engineering Research Centre, said the company has been able to reduce gas flaring from 65 percent to 20 percent in the country through the construction of six NLNG Trains.
He said that through the company’s university support programme, NLNG has invested the sum of $12 million in six universities in the country adding that the schools were chosen based on their relative ranking in their geopolitical zones by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) and the world ranking of universities. The aim of the programme, he said is to develop Nigerian human capital and foster technological advancement in the nation.
The beneficiary universities under the support programme are Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), University of Ibadan (UI), University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) and University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT).
