BREAKING: Ojo Madueke is dead

A former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Madueke, is dead.

Mr. Maduekwe was returning to Nigeria from the U.S. where he had gone to attend a relative’s graduation ceremony via Dubai when he fell ill.

“He fell ill while on air from Dubai and he was rushed to the hospital as soon as the plane landed in Abuja, but he died before doctors could do much,” he said.

Mr. Maduekwe was recently appointed the secretary of the PDP Board of Trustees.

Madueke, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party, also at one time served as the Minister of Transport for the country.
He was born May 6, 1945 in Abia State.

Madueke was appointed Minister of Culture and Tourism by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999.

He later became Minister of Transport in 2001.
He was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs on July 26, 2007 by late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
