Popular Ukrainian-based pastor, Sunday Adelaja, says allegations that he had extra-marital affairs with women in his church were cooked up by some disgruntled elements to tarnish his image.
Adelaja, a Russian-trained Nigerian, is the founder of one of Europe’s largest churches, The Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations in Kiev, Ukraine.
Reacting to the adultery scandal in a mail on Tuesday, the cleric said the allegation was raised when some persons heard of his decision to hand over the leadership of the church because he was planning to return to Africa.
“So, it’s a leadership tussle from those whose desires for church leadership were not granted,” he stated.
Adelaja said the church in Ukraine was doing well, adding that although many people believed the allegations, the story was not true.
The statement partly read, “I’m in solitude now, but this is the basic thing I can say for now. That (adultery allegation) is not true at all. It is actually an old story that was cooked up by some disgruntled members of my leadership team when they knew of my decision to hand over the church because of my plan to return to Africa.”
