A 26-year-old lady named Obiamaka Aduba was allegedly strangled to death by her husband who has now been arrested.
The husband, 31-year-old Anthony Lopez, had already been forcing Aduba to engage in prostitution to make a few bucks and he is also the main suspect in her murder. It was alleged that he was seen wheeling her lifeless body down Mariners Harbor.
He was also accused of beating her on several occasions. There was no one to help her, even her mother could do nothing.
Lopez tried to evade capture and even went as far as shaving his head to disguise himself. It took the full efforts of the police, helicopters, and even dogs to catch the suspect.
He was caught in East Harlem’s 23rd Precinct on Saturday and taken into custody. Aduba’s body was wrapped in a sheet and had bruising all over. It will only be clear the exact cause of her death after an autopsy is carried out.
Lopez is certainly no saint as he has a lengthy arrest record with 34 arrests, some of which are sealed. He has also been arrested for robbery, theft and assault according to the police.
