UNILAG students protest poor electricity, water scarcity

Students of the University of Lagos Wednesday evening protested against poor water and electricity supply on the campus.
The students, who were led by the newly elected President of the Students’ Union, Muhammed Olaniyan, flooded the university’s Senate Building singing protest songs.
The students were barred from gaining entry to the university auditorium where the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Rahman Bello was taking part in the Nigeria National Merit Award‎ lecture taking place at the time.
According to them, the epileptic power supply on the campus and the increase in prices of sachet water, and poor water supply on the campus were becoming unbearable, demanding explanation from the university management.
The efforts of the newly appointed Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the university in charge of Acdemics and Records, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, were rebuffed by the students.
