TWEETS: Abike Dabiri receives bashing for telling Nigerian abroad not to return

Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Foreign Affairs and Diaspora on Sunday drew the anger of Nigerians on social media.

A Twitter user, Onuoha David, had hit Abike Dabiri and two other handles thus: “No stable power, High insecurity, Low wages, poor infrastructures etc what am I coming home for?”

Responding, the former member of the House of Representatives, tweeted back “But who is asking you to come?”

The reply has attracted hundreds of harsh responses, with many declaring the one-time broadcaster unfit for the position she was recently appointed.

In an attempt to retract her infamous comment, Dabiri in a series of tweet said: “Sorry David if you misunderstood me. You can be part of development from anywhere as explained in earlier posts.

“For all who misunderstood my response…Sorry and read full thread…You can contribute wherever you are, Naija will be great again.

“Again, Message is you can be part of it all. Wherever you find yourself as a Nigerian…Read the whole thread.”
However, her apology has not calmed nerves as more Nigerians, especially on social media, are continuing their bashing of the presidential aide.
