70 -yr-old man arrested for armed robbery

Alhaji Muntari Nasiru (70) has confessed at Kano state Police Command that he took to armed robbery to sustain his three wives and 11 children.

Muntari also told Journalists at the Bompai Police headquarters that he just got married to his last wife aged 13, adding that he engaged in armed robbery to cater for their needs.

According to him, “I have been in this business for three years.”

The Command’s image-maker, DSP Magaji Musa Majia who spoke to newsmen on behalf of his boss, Muhammad Musa Katsina said on February 22, 2016, a victim of armed robbery reported to the police that a gang of four armed men robbed him of possession.

“Our Ambush Squad immediately went into action and arrested one Nura Aliyu and Alhaji Muntari Nasiru aged 70, who actively participated in the operation,” adding that, “they confessed to the crime and mentioned the other members of the syndicate and the Command have spread its dragnet; and I assure you that they will soon be arrested.”

Majia further noted that the 70 -year old man before going into armed robbery managed a farmland in the area where they take hard drugs, plan their operations and proceed to perpetuate their heinous acts.

Also the command equally paraded a six-man armed robbery gang who invaded the house of a resident at Yan Awaki, Unguwa uku, threatened him and carted away property and cash valued N1, 286,000.

Amongst the items recovered from the armed robbery gangs, are fabricated revolver pistols, six cartridges, two motorcycles, one generator, one blackberry, N1900 counterfeit currency and three DVD.

Others items recovered are a toy gun, two laptops, five wrist watches, seven wrappers, nine ear rings, Samsung plasma TV, two computers and among others.
