The crisis rocking the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) deepened Sunday with some members of its National Coordinating Council (NCC) asking President Muhammad Buhari and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe the financial activities of Otunba Gani Adams whom they claimed has been removed a National Coordinator of the group.
The NCC members, from Kwara, Oyo, Ondo, Bayelsa, Delta, Sokoto and Kaduna States at a press conference in Ilorin, Kwara State, insisted that nothing could change their determination to remove Adams whom they alleged had converted the organisation to a personal fiefdom.
Those who addressed the media included Marruf Salami (Kwara state), Rotimi Akinsowon (Ondo), Adeola Adeagbo (Oyo), Shina Akinpelu, Alesh Adeshina, Sunday Babalola and Alhaji Lateef Osho.
However, the Gani Adams faction of the organisation had debunked every claim by the break-away group and announced their expulsion from the group allegedly for anti-congress activities and gross indiscipline, which they claimed portrayed OPC as anti-people and a lawless organisation.
