A father has been arrested and charged with murder for allegedly killing his son because he cried for 10 minutes non-stop.
According to the police West Virginia, 26-year-old Jeremy Kurt Shaffer was arrested after being accused of killing 16-week-old Landyn Carder.
Investigations revealed that police officers were called to the Ruby Memorial Hospital, after the baby was brought in and diagnosed with bleeding in the brain.
Doctors determined that the baby’s injuries were not accidental and was in intensive care until he died the next day.
Shaffer told police that he was home alone with the child and then he started crying and continued for 10 minutes non-stop.
He then claimed he put the baby on a couch and pushed him up and down. Shaffer further revealed he noticed that the baby was blue and not breathing.
So he called his wife and asked her what to do before driving to the hospital.
Shaffer was charged with second-degree murder, death of a child by a parent, child abuse and neglect leading to death. He was booked into the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, and his bail was set at $750,000.
If convicted, Shaffer faces up to 40 years in prison.
