Pro Biafra Protests “Evil” – Rev Fr Mbaka

Popular Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has flayed protests by pro-Biafra elements in the South East and South South geo-political zones of the country, describing the activities as “evil”.

The cleric made this known on Saturday in Enugu at his weekly Adoration Ministry.

Mbaka appealed to the restive youths to go back to their legitimate businesses and abandon their separatist tendencies.

“Locking up your shops and disrupting economic activities will not add any naira to your pocket, whatever grievance you have could be resolved through dialogue,’’ he noted.

Furthermore, Mbaka took a swipe at aggrieved leaders hiding behind the youths to cause tension, charging them to use their own children if they feel inclined to air their views through protests.

In the same vein, he commended President Muhammadu Buhari for not marginalising the South East in his ministerial appointments, stressing that it showed Buhari’s magnanimity.

“President Buhari’s action has proven that the South East has not been marginalized. I would have reacted if no minister emerged from the zone,’’ he affirmed.

He also pointed accusing fingers at Igbo leaders for the undevelopment of the zone.

members failed woefully in discharging their mandates.

“President Buhari is not the cause of poor roads, unemployment and other decay infrastructures in the south east, we should blame our leaders.

“Most of the roads had been awarded but our leaders squandered the fund, even the university teaching hospital in Enugu is a no-go-area and our leaders are not concerned about it,” he quipped.

The reverend father called on the newly-appointed ministers of Igbo extraction to contribute their quota to the development of the zone, while calling on Minister for Labour and Productivity, Dr. Chris Ngige to use his position to positively influence youths in the zone by getting them jobs.

This, he said, would prevent another Boko-Haram like menace from emanating from the zone.
