Police Nab 4 Kidnap Suspects In Ondo

The long arm of the law has caught up with four suspected kidnappers of Mrs Eralkhuemen Unulkiere, as they have been apprehended by the Ondo State Police Command.

The suspects identified as Tosin Adenikiju, Abiodun Olabowale, Omoniyi Akinsoyimi and Olatunji Igbekele, were said to have admitted to kidnapping the 53-year-old, who was rescued from them after three weeks of being in captivity.

The suspected abductors had demanded a ransom fee of N35 million to effect the woman’s release.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Femi Joseph, the command was able to secure the woman’s release and apprehend the suspects in the process of the negotiations over the payment of ransom.

Joseph said detectives from the command who had been on the trail of the suspects for days finally succeeded in arresting the culprits in the creeks.

While stating that the woman was rescued unhurt and without any ransom paid, he attributed the success of the operation to well-coordinated intelligence gathering.

It will be recalled that in September the police alleged during the controversy surrounding the kidnapping and rescue of Chief Olu Falae that no ransom was paid to secure his release, but the former Secretary to the Federal Government denied this.

Joseph said that the suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations, while affirming that the command was still on the trail of other members of the gang still at large.
