Appeal Court disappoints Gov. Lalong, rejects APC’s bid to unseat Jang as senator

Barely three days after the Plateau State Governor, Barrister Simon Lalong, boasted that he will stop at nothing to see that the All Progressives Congress unseats a former Governor of the state, Jonah Jang, as senator, the Court of Appeal sitting in Jos on Friday has disappointed him.

The Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal filed by Eunice Ayisa Sambo of the APC challenging the election of Jang on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Jang was elected to represent Plateau North Senatorial District in the April 11, 2015 general election.

The Court dismissed Sambo’s petition for lack of merit.
The Plateau State Elections Petitions Tribunal had earlier dismissed Sambo’s petition.
Sambo and the APC tendered 191 documents, which the tribunal rejected for not been satisfactory.

The Court of Appeal dismissed it also for lack of merit.

Upholding the Judgment of the lower tribunal, the Judge, Justice J.S. Ikyegh, said the petitioners failed to prove the basis of the petition
