Amina Zakari: Who is the liar between Buhari, INEC appointee – Ben Bruce

The lawmaker representing Bayelsa East, Ben Murray-Bruce, has said that both President Muhammadu Buhari and the Head of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Collation Centre, Amina Zakari should be more coordinated in their responses.

He was reacting to the controversy surrounding claims that Buhari and Zakari are related by blood.

Following her appointment as INEC’s Head of Collation, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had alleged that Zakari was Buhari’s niece.

Buhari has since dismissed the allegation, saying the claim was false.

He, however, admitted that there was an inter-marriage that occurred between their extended family.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, Buhari had said: “President Buhari and Commissioner Amina Zakari don’t share a family relationship. An inter-marriage occurred in their extended families, so the imputation of blood relationship between the President and the electoral commissioner is a simple lie.”

Also reacting to the allegation, Zakari insisted that Buhari was neither her cousin nor her uncle, contrary to insinuations.

However, Bruce wondered who was economical with the truth between Buhari and Zakari.

In a tweet, the business mogul wrote: “These people need to be more coordinated in their responses, whether true or false.

“@MBuhari says Amina Zakari is his niece by marriage. Amina Zakari herself says she is not even related to him at all. So who is telling the truth between the two of them? “
