Army, Navy Promote 318 Senior Officers

The authorities of the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy, yesterday, promoted 318 senior officers.

While Army council promoted 231 senior officers, the Navy elevated 87 of its senior officers.

The Army Council approved the promotion of some senior officers of the Nigerian Army to the ranks of Major Generals, Brigadier Generals, Colonels and Lieutenant Colonel, respectively.

A statement yesterday by the director, Army Public Relations, Brig Gen Sani Usman gave the breakdown of those who were promoted to their next ranks as follows: 29 Brigadier Generals,95 Colonels, 106 lieutenant colonels and one major.

“29 Brigadier Generals were promoted to the rank of Major Generals, 95 Colonels to Brigadier Generals, 106 Lieutenant Colonels to Colonels and one Major to Lieutenant Colonel, respectively,” he said.

He added that those promoted to the rank of Major General include Brigadier General TOB Ademola, Nigeria Defence Attaché to China, Brigadier KO Ogundele, director, coordination at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Brigadier General ON Ugo, Brigadier General AO Uthman, Brigadier General M Bashir and Brigadier General MM Mshelia.

Others are Brigadier General US Mohammed, Brigadier General IO Ehiorobo, Brigadier General CG Musa, Brigadier General CO Ofoche, Brigadier General DH Alli-Keffi, Brigadier General A Kigbu, Brigadier General YI Shalangwa, director Army Legal Service and Brigadier General SZ Kazaure, director general National Youth Service Corps, amongst others.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Navy Board has approved the promotion of 87 senior officers to the ranks of Rear Admiral, Commodore, Captain and Commander.

A statement by the director of information, Commodore Ayo Olugbode said among the newly promoted senior officers,there are 10 Rear Admirals, 25 Commodores, 24 Captains and 28 Commanders.

He said 10 Admirals promoted include Commodores DM Dogonyaro, Commandant Nigerian Navy School of Armament Technology, Kachia; TA Imam, director of policy Naval Headquarters; RO Mohammed, director of recruitment, resettlement and reserve, Naval Headquarters; IB Yusuf, director of personnel release, Naval Headquarters; WO Kayoda, director navigation/positioning and timing, Defence Space Administration; OE Eyo, Commander NNS BEECROFT; SO Agada, directing Staff NDC; EE Aneke Commodore Naval Drafting; MM Bashir, directing Staff NDC and AO Ayobanjo Deputy Commandant, Naval War College Nigeria.

He said those promoted to rank of Commodore are Captains T Sani, MN Madugu, OO Fadeyi, AA Gaya, S Dahun, OA Oludude, SD Atakpa, A Baba-Inna, PE Effah, AA Mustapha CD Okehie, I Okpala, OBF Oladipo , OO Soyemi, EA Zipele. Others are AK Ezenma, C Onyemaobi, SA Yahaya, SH Abdullahi, KM Bushi, SA Ejaro, G Obaje, AE Bello, ID Nurudeen and IA Ahmed.

Others include Colonel PAO Okoye, Colonel AO Oyelade, Colonel MLD Saraso, Colonel VE Emah, Colonel RI Odi, Colonel WD Nasiru, Colonel LA Jimoh, Colonel AP Ahmadu, Colonel QA Ahmed and ColonelJS Sura, amongst others.

In the same vein, Lieutenant Colonels CA Magaji, AA Bello, CE Ugworji, CY Ufurumazi, K Imam, CE Aniorha, MC Akin-Ojo, KO Kalu, AY Emakoma, MA Dogo, MG Udotong, BA Adeshina and I Sadiq, were promoted to the rank of Colonels.

Others promoted Colonels include NC Achikasim, BI George, YD Ishaku, EA Otseh and SB Salisu, amongst others. While Major UA Musa was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel.

The statement noted that approval of the promotion by the Army Council for the senior officers is the last for the year 2018.

The Director averred that the promotion exercise is expected to re-energise the beneficiaries towards the discharge of their tasks and responsibilities.
