Atiku Warns INEC Against Manipulating Osun Guber Result

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has cautioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against allowing itself to be used to subvert the will of the people of Osun.

Atiku made this known via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday morning as Nigerians eagerly anticipate the final result and declaration of the winner in the gubernatorial election that held in the state on Saturday.

The election is expected to be a two-horse race between All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gboyega Oyetola and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Sen. Ademola Adeleke.

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, had lamented the electoral process, accusing the two leading parties of vote buying.

Atiku, a PDP presidential aspirant, urged INEC to respect the will of the people of Osun and allow the final result reflect same.

He said failure to allow this could lead to lead to “anarchy” in the state.

Atiku said, tweeted: “The people of Osun have made their choice. What is required of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is to express that decision without any subtraction or addition. Anything short of that is a threat to democracy and a call to anarchy.”
