Olamide told the police that she did not wish to kill her elder brother; that she committed the crime out of anger. However, the police found her culpable and charged her before the Ebute Metta Magistrates court for murder.

The prosecutor, Inspector K. Omishakin, informed the court that the defendant was the younger sister of the victim who she used a knife to stab him to death. The court did not take her plea and denied her bail because of the seriousness of the offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. A .O. Komolafe, ordered her to be remanded in prison custody and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send to the DPP for advice.

The case may be transferred to High Court if the DPP found her culpable and she may be jailed for life if she was tried and found guilty for murder.
