Why FIFA paid Maradona £10,000 per game to watch Argentina matches

The reason Argentina legend, Diego Maradona, was paid £10,000 per game to watch his country’s 2018 World Cup games in Russia has been revealed.

It added that the former UEFA general secretary wants at least one former superstar from each nation at the World Cup to provide an ambassadorial role in their country’s games.

However, Maradona will no longer be paid as an ambassador of world soccer governing body, FIFA.

This followed the Argentina legend’s failure to control his emotions during their 2-1 win over Nigeria in the World Cup last Group D game last week Tuesday.

In the final match, the 1986 World Cup winner was seen swearing at the crowd after Marcos Rojo scored the winner against Super Eagles that sent Argentina through to the knockout stages.
