Football world celebrates ‘President’ George Weah

World football fraternity has joined in the celebration of AC Milan legend George Weah who has been has been confirmed as the next President of Liberia. The 51-year-old former AC Milan and Chelsea forward emerged victorious in 13 out of the 15 counties while his rival, 73-year-old Joseph Boakai had to settle for just two counties to become the 25th president of the West African country. Congratulatory messages have been pouring in for the former World Player of the Year.

Confederation of African Football was the first to congratulate the former best player on the continent, when it wrote on its official twitter handle that: “CAF Congratulations @ GeorgeWeahOff ! Former Ballon d’Or winner & Current President of Liberia #African_Players #Liberia2017” Cote d’Ivoire and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba also took to the social media to congratulate Weah. He wrote on his official twitter handle @ didierdrogba that:”

It is indeed!!!!!! Félicitations Mr Georges.” Nigeria’s retired football star Mutiu Adepoju also had some good words for the President-elect whom he described as a man with a quintessential touch. The former Racing Satander of Spain star wrote on his official twitter handle @MutiuAdepoju8 that: Congrats @GeorgeWeahOff , you are a born leader.

All the best mate.” There was also love from Ghana for the Liberian leader when Black Star captain Asamoah Gyan wrote on his twitter handle@ASAMOAH_GYAN3 that : “ My name is Asamoah Gyan and I support George Weah as the next President of Liberia. @GeorgeWeahOff”
