Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, yesterday debunked claims that he married a new wife and had twins out of wedlock. Amosun, who reacted to a series of allegations against him and his administration, also vowed to fish out the peddlers of recent alleged raid of his Lagos residence by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). He spoke at the Town Hall Meeting on Year 2018 Budget organised by the state Ministry of Budget and Planning at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta.
The governor expressed satisfaction with the performance of his administration in the last six years but flayed those engaging in undue attacks aimed at tarnishing his image. Saturday Telegraph gathered that recent reports had gone viral in the social media purporting that EFCC operatives stormed the basement of the Ikeja, Lagos residence of Amosun, and recovered huge cash in local and foreign currencies allegedly stashed in a vault.
The governor noted that the reports, which he described as false and malicious, generated reactions from far and near. He declared his preparedness to unmask those behind the fake reports and ensure their prosecution to serve as deterrent to others.
Amosun, however, blamed recent malicious campaign against him in the social media, on an unnamed governorship aspirant. He submitted that the development might not be unconnected with the political build-up to the 2019 elections but said he remained unperturbed.
“There is nobody that can destabilize Amosun. No! I don’t even feel it, I don’t even care when they write rubbish, said Amosun. “Let me assure you: these people are going to jail. I can assure you of that. We are going to smoke them out to serve as a deterrent.
They will go to jail. It has happened before. You, our royal fathers, please leave them alone and don’t intercede for them. They made a mistake and they will go to jail because they deserve to go to jail.
