11 injured after traffic incident outside London’s Natural History Museum

Eleven people were injured when a car ploughed into pedestrians near the Natural History Museum in London this afternoon.

At least nine suffered injuries to the head and leg and were taken to hospital for treatment following the incident on Exhibition Road, in south Kensington. Video footage posted on Twitter showed a man being restrained on the ground by members of the public after the incident shortly after 2.20pm.

The Metropolitan Police has since confirmed the incident was not terror-related and was a road traffic accident.

A statement by the Metropolitan Police said: ’11 people were found at the scene with varying injuries and nine of them have been taken to hospital, and this includes the man that was detained by police.

‘Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
