Produce Nnamdi Kanu’s father now, Igbo monarchs tells Army

Traditional rulers in Umuahia North Council Area of Abia State have called on the Nigeria Army to release dead or alive, their colleague and father of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Eze Israel Kanu, saying since the invasion and attack on his palace by soldiers last Thursday, they were at a loss as to his whereabouts.
In condemning the attack yesterday, the royal fathers also condemned frowned at what they called the discretion of the Palace and throne and demanded the repair of the structures in the palace as well as the throne and compensation to carry out the necessary appeasement for the desecrated palace and throne.
“The army should let us know the where about of Eze Israel Kanu. We need his life or dead. We don’t know where our colleague is; we have not heard about him or from him. We want him produced life or dead. We are also worried over the discretion of the palace and the throne.
“We totally condemn the attack on Eze Isreal Kanu’s palace by soldiers. His cook, a woman was killed during the attack. The Nigeria Army should tell us the sins of Eze Kanu.
“We call on the Federal Government to produce those who carried out the attack and also come to the rescue of Eze Kanu and his family over the collateral damage done in his palace and discretion of the throne.
“We were surprised that soldiers would come into Abia State for such attack without the knowledge of the Governor who is the chief security officer, to get his clearance. We are calling on the world to our rescue. We have been calling for dialogue but they neglected our call and came to kill”, the monarchs said.
Lamenting the attack on the palace and alleged missing of the monarch, the traditional rulers confirmed that Eze Kanu’s cook, a woman was killed during the invasion by the troops.
Speaking in Umuahia, under the umbrella body of Ibeku Traditional Rulers Council, the Chairman of the Council, Eze Henry Ezekwem, flanked by other monarchs, disowned a group, Umuahia Youth Association, which gave Governor Okezie Ikpeazu ultimatum to dethrone Eze Israel Kanu, saying that the association does not exist in Umuahia.
According to them, Nnmadi Kanu is a full-fledged adult and his father cannot be held accountable for his actions.
“Ibeku traditional rulers disown the group, it does not exist; we also reject the call to dethrone Eze Israel Kanu. He has not committed any offence. Nnamdi Kanu is an adult, he has his freedom to exercise; his father cannot stop him.
“We call on Governor Okezie Ikpeazu to ignore such call. We don’t even know about the said association, it does not exist in Umuahia, they are non-existent. In fact, we commend the Governor for rejecting the call and saying openly that he would not dethrone Eze Kanu. They commended the maturity with which Governor Ikpeazu handled the crisis and also commended the three Senators from the State for their role as well as Senate President, Bukola Saraki for standing by the truth.

On the Egwu Eke 11 exercise, the monarchs rejected it and wondered why it was not launched since Fulani herdsmen have been attacking and destroying lives and properties in the South East.
Present at the briefing were Eze Samuel Onuoha, the Paramount ruler of Ibeku Clan; Eze Henry Ezekwem, the Chairman of the Council, Eze James Ogbonna, Eze Iheanyichukwu Ezeigbo and Eze Donatus Aguiyi, Eze Chiabuotu Emelike and Eze Eddy Ibeabuchi.
Others were Eze Philip Ukaegbu, Eze John Ibezim and Eze Emmanuel Onwubuariri. Meanwhile, military fighter jet has continued to fly over the state, especially Umuahia and Aba axis just as the Abia State Government has relaxed the curfew imposed on Aba from 10pm till 6am.
