Buhari is alive, says presidency

The Presidency has advised Nigerians to ignore rumours making the rounds that President Muhammadu Buhari has passed on. Presidential spokesmen, Femi Adesina, (Special Adviser) and Garba Shehu (Senior Special Assistant), on their twitter handles yesterday said nothing unpleasant has happened to the President. Adesina retorted; “why do some people rage and imagine vain things?” He added: “It is the counsel of God that shall stand.

May God bless all those praying for PMB.” According to Shehu, there is no cause for alarm. He called on Nigerians to disregard any messages on Facebook and WhatsApp regarding the unrealistic information about the President. He said: “No cause for apprehension. Thanks for the many calls.

“If you have received this information on WhatsApp or Facebook, disregard it because it is plain lies spread by vested interests to create panic. “Baseless rumours are trending again that an unpleasant thing has happened to our beloved President, Muhammadu Buhari.” Buhari left Nigeria last week Sunday night for London, United Kingdom (UK) for another round of medical check-up. The President, who transmitted letters to both arms of the National Assembly, said that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, would be acting in his absence.

He also said that the length of his stay in London would be determined by his doctors. Last week’s medical trip by the President to London is the second in the year. President Buhari had on January 19 travelled to the UK for medical check-up and returned to the country on March 10. There has been no official information from the presidency about the President since he left the country.
