Florence Ita-Giwa officially dumps PDP for APC

Former presidential adviser and prominent Bakassi leader in Cross River State, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ita-Giwa was a pioneer member of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) which later merged to form APC, before decamping to PDP in 2004.

On Thursday, the strongwoman of Cross River politics, told newsmen that “I have been idle in the PDP for over one year now. It is time for me to move on politically with my huge Bakassi supporters.

“Besides, nearly all my contemporaries are in the APC. SO, it is time for me to join them and work for the progress of the party at the state and national levels.”

“Mama Bakassi” officially decamped on Friday and was registered by the APC Chairman of her At Ema ward, Inyang Okon, in Bakassi.

She explained that she joined the party, because she needed a credible platform to continue her political life. She also promised to work for Nigeria and President Muhammadu Buhari, who she claims was misunderstood.

“There is no retirement age for politics. Nigeria needs experience. As you grow older in politics, you learn on the job.”

Ita-Giwa had won elections as a Senator in ANPP in 1999 and later in 2004 under PDP.
