Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, yesterday approved demotion of 15 members of staff of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC). The new development was meant to reposition and sanitise the corporation for optimum performance even as alarming cases of corruption and abuse of office was unearthed.
The ongoing effort to re-position the tourism body came to a head last week with the removal of the Acting Director General, Mrs. Mariel Rae- Omoh, who was replaced by Dr. Paul Adalikwu on secondment for two years from the Ministry of Water Resources by the minister.
This would be the third time within five months that the minister was appointing acting director generals for the corporation, following the sack of the formal DG, Mrs. Sally Uwechue- Mbanefo in November 27 last year.
