Donald Trump ridiculed after ‘unpresidented’ spelling mistake

People are ridiculing Donald Trump after he made an ‘unpresidented’ clanger in one of his tweets.

Referring to China seizing an American underwater drone belonging to the US Navy, he said: ‘China steals United States Navy research drone in international waters – rips it out of water and takes it to China in unpresidented act.’

Sharp-eyed users on the site were quick to note that the word he was actually looking for was ‘unprecedented’, something that has never been done or known of before.

He has deleted the tweet and posted a new one with the correct spelling, but the screenshot remains:

Without even going into the diplomatic row he’s waded into, the error started to trend online as people shook their heads at the man who will be coming into the White House.

Former British MP Louise Mensch went as far posting a series of tweets and retweets accusing the President Elect of having early signs of dementia, saying that getting words confused can be one of the first symptoms.

The error in itself was enough to give people cause for concern, with people saying they would prefer a president who knew how to spell.

Some pointed out that Trump did know the word at one point but now seems to have forgotten:

As the President Elect, you’d think he could at least sort out getting spellcheck on his computer.
