Rivers rerun: Shoot when you are shot at, says APC

AHEAD of Saturday’s legislative rerun election in Rivers State, the All Progressives Congress has said that it would not fold its hands and allow the Peoples Democratic Party to intimidate its supporters with violence, vowing that it would be an eye for an eye.

The Minister of Transportation and APC leader in the state, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi; APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; and the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Mohammed Ganduje, who spoke separately at the party’s mega rally in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, said they would not be at the receiving end of any form of violence during the election.

While Ganduje, who is the Chairman, Rivers State Election Rerun Campaign Committee, told APC supporters to take cover and shoot their opponents if they (opponents) pulled the trigger during the exercise on Saturday.

Amaechi, in remark, said, “Before, I used to tell you; please, don’t fight, I think I will bend it a bit. What I will tell you is that do not kill anybody, but do not be killed. If you allow them shoot you, you will die. So, don’t allow them to shoot you. It is not only them that have the right to life, you too also have the right to life.

I don’t want to hear they shot me, they took the result sheet. Anybody, who takes the result sheet, take it back from him. You know I have never spoken like this before. Now, my phones will be off on Saturday; don’t call me. The only time you will call me is from 6pm to tell me how we have won.
