INEC to conduct Rivers re-run polls with 10, 294 staff

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that the re-run National Assembly and House of Assembly election would be prosecuted with 10, 294 staff across three senatorial districts in the state.

It also stated that the exercise would take place in eight federal constituencies and 10 state constituencies.

The commission in a statement said that plans had been concluded to use 14 categories of staff during the exercise.

The statement reads:”The Independent National Electoral Commission is to deploy 10,294 staff to conclude the National and State Assembly elections in Rivers State scheduled for December 10, 2016.

‘’ I4 categories of staff will be deployed as follows: 3 Returning Officers for the three Senatorial District; 8 Returning Officers for Federal Constituencies; 23 LGA Collation Officers; 221 Registration Area Collation Officers; 57 Collation Officers (for Collation only at Registration Areas RAs); 231 Supervisory Presiding Officers; 1,840 Presiding Officers; 6,609 Assistant Presiding Officers (I, II and III); 661 Assistant Presiding Officers; 21 Constituency Supervisors ); 24 LGA Supervisors; and 223 RA Supervisors.”

The twenty one constituencies where the elections will hold are: Rivers East, Rivers West, Rivers South East, Akuku-Toru/Asari Toru, Degema/Bonny, Okrika/Ogu-Bolo, Etche/Omuma, Ikwere/Emohua, Khana Gokana, Eleme/Tai/Oyigbo, Opobo/Nkoro/Andoni, Eleme, Gokana, Asari-Toru I, Asari-Toru II, Andoni, Khana II, Etche II, Ikwere, Bonny, and Degema
