Five Suspected PHCN Vandals Arrested In Enugu

The police in Enugu state have arrested five suspected electricity cable vandals who specialized in vandalizing cables belonging to private companies in the State.

According to a statement by the spokesman of the State Police Command, Ebere Amaraizu, the suspects were apprehended by men of the Thinkers Corner Division in Enugu who were on routine patrol.

Amaraizu gave the names of the suspects as Ibrahim Azamu,Yusuf Anano,Justice Michael,  Prince Jessy and Sadiq Isah who are believed to be residing at New Artisan Market Enugu.

The police spokesman said the suspects were intercepted and nabbed by the eagle-eyed operatives on routine patrol within Thinkers Corner axis on October 30.

Amaraizu’s statement reads: “Information revealed that suspects had allegedly vandalized the cable from one company located at Thinkers Corner axis of the state.

“The suspects are helping the police in their investigations. Recovered from the suspects are the conductor aluminum cables” he said.

In another development, Amaraizu stated that one of the suspects who allegedly invaded and robbed West Point Hostel Maryland Enugu in the early hours of October 16 and allegedly escaped to an unknown destination was now helping the police operatives in their investigations.

He said the suspect who gave his name as one Onyebuchi Emmanuel from Satellite hostel Maryland Enugu had allegedly taken to his heels after committing the offence with his gang members.

Amaraizu said the suspect was nabbed on November 1 from where he was spotted by the detectives following intelligence information.

He said following revelations from the suspect, the police recovered stolen items like DVD home theatre, phone and laptops from him.

He said the police equally recovered a hammer and digger allegedly used in the nefarious act from the suspect while manhunt of the other gang members have intensified.
