Police dismiss report of protest over postings

The Nigerian Police Force has dismissed a newspaper report of police protest over postings as entirely false, malicious and capable of misleading members of the public.

A statement on Tuesday from Police spokesman DCP, Don Awunah said transfer and postings in the Nigerian Police are administrative and routine aimed at enhancing efficiency of men.

He noted that it is misleading to say recent transfers and postings in the Force across the Country were based on with-hunting, tribalism and favoritism.

He also said it is not true that the IGP has flooded strategic command units with his kinsmen from Niger State and vendetta against officers hoping to ascend to higher positions in the Force in future.

He pointed out that redeployments, transfers, re-assignments and secondments are administrative, routine and normal in the police force.

He said protest in regards to posting amounts to serious misconduct and could attract commensurate sanctions.
