Facebook Just Launched a Craigslist Killer on its App

Facebook has announced the launch of Marketplace, a new tab on its app for iPhone and Andriod that will allow users to buy and sell goods to others.

The feature will launch this week to users above the age of 18 in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand, Facebook says. Marketplace will appear at the center of the bottom row of icons on the Facebook app and tapping on it will open photos of items listed for sale by people around you.

To find something specific you can browse categories, find a list of nearby listings or change your location to find items in other cities or countries. You can also message sellers, and flog your own items by simply uploading a photo, setting a name, price and description.

Marketplace, according to the Verge, will not have a charging a fee to conduct transactions pitting it in direct competition with sites with transaction fees like Craigslist and eBay.
