Gang Up Against Tinubu In APC Is Attack On Yorubaland – Adebanjo

Elder statesman and Afenifere chieftain, Chief Ayo Adebanjo on Tuesday said the gang up against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu by some forces in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a ploy to divide and cause confusion among the Yoruba so that the Northerners can take over the control of the party.

Speaking in a chat with Independent, Adebanjo also said though Tinubu may have his fault as an individual, he has been treated unjustly by his party.

Adebanjo and Tinubu were both in Afenifere and the then Alliance for Democracy (AD) before Tinubu pulled out from AD to from Action Congress (AC) which later became Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) which then merged with other political parties to form APC.

Tinubu also left Afenifere and sponsored the formation of Afenifere Renewal Group (ARG) currently led by Honourable Wale Oshun, one of his (Tinubu) loyalists.

Adebanjo who said he warned Tinubu about going into alliance with Northerners but was rebuffed however said he will not mock Tinubu over his present predicament in the APC.

“ People are expecting me to mock Tinubu and say God has dealt with him over the manner he treated me and other Yoruba leaders but I won’t do that because what is after six is more than seven”.

“Attack on Tinubu is not directly at him but attack on Yorubaland. I am not shortsighted. They want to break us up and cause division so that they can take over. He (Tinubu) has made his mistake and I hope he has learnt from it”.

“When he went into the alliance, I warned him that they are conglomeration of incompatibles but they chose to ignore. But I strongly believe that the gang up against him is a ploy to divide the Yorubaland so that these Northerners can take over. I can see that and nobody can convince me about that”

“Tinubu may have his fault but he has not been treated well by his party” he said.
