The United States Government on Tuesday expressed the need for Wednesday’s Edo State governorship election to be credible.
John Bray, the US Consul General, made the remark during a courtesy visit to Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Bray said it was essential that the election was credible, peaceful, transparent, violent- free as well as reflect the will of the people.
Bray said he was in the state to observe the election alongside other election observers, adding, however, that the postponement of the poll few weeks ago was a setback.
Responding, Oshiomhole appreciated the US Government’s continuous interest in the growth and development of democracy in the country.
He stressed that all stakeholders must join hands together to achieve a free and non-violent election.
