Father killed his 21-month-old who survived cancer ‘because he was jealous of the attention she got’

A father has pleaded guilty to killing his daughter with a baseball bat.

Ryan Lawrence, 25, killed his daughter Maddox, because he was jealous of the attention she received for surviving eye cancer.

He admitted beating the 21-month-old to death before burning her body in a fire pit for three hours.

He then dumped her body in a creek in Syracuse, anchoring her body with cinder blocks.

Onondaga Country District Attorney Bil Fitzpatrick said: ‘Without going into too much detail, [Ryan Lawrence’s] statements allude to almost a sense of jealousy about the attention that this child was getting, as opposed to the attention that he was getting.’

Maddox’s body was found by police divers on February 21 around 36 hours after local authorities issued an alert about her disappearance.
