Edo election: September 28 clashes with Oba of Benin coronation – Ize-Iyamu

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has condemned the September 28 new date fixed for the election.
He also said the reason given by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the postponement was weak.

Ize-Iyamu said INEC did not bother to consult the PDP before shifting the date of the election.

“The new date was deliberately chosen to disenfranchise voters in Edo South Senatorial District,” he said.

The PDP candidate described the zone as his strong base, adding that many people would be busy witnessing some activities tied to the coronation of the Oba of Benin, which would hold on September 26.
Ize-Iyamu, however, urged his supporters to remain calm and go to the polls to excerise their right on election day.

He appealed to INEC and security agencies to deliver credible, free and fair election in Edo State.
