2016 Olympics: Usain Bolt wins ninth gold medal as Jamaica come out on top in 4x100m relay

Jamaica won the 4x100m relay in Rio to hand Usain Bolt his ninth gold medal and an unprecedented ‘triple triple.

The 29-year-old won gold in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012.

The enigmatic Jamaican went into the relay knowing that a win would finish his Olympic career with a perfect performance across three Games.

Bolt combined with Asafa Powell, Yohan Blake and Nickel Ashmeade to finish in 37.27 seconds ahead of Japan in second and USA in third.

Bolt has previously stated that this will be his last performance at an Olympic Games and he ends his Olympic career with a perfect record having only won golds.
