Another Kenyan coach booted from Olympics after posing as athlete during a drug test

A Kenyan coach has been sent home from the Rio Olympics after he posed as an athlete and gave a urine sample to try and fool drug testers.

The Kenyan camp confirmed that John Anzrah, a former Olympian himself, had given a urine sample to officials before they discovered his face did not match that of the athlete they were suppose to be testing.

The chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya, track-and-field legend Kip Keino, said:’We have sent Anzrah back home.

‘He presented himself as an athlete, gave the urine sample and even signed the documents. We cannot tolerate such behaviour.’

The identity of the Olympian that Anzrah was posing as has not been released and it is not known if any punishment will be handed down to the athlete.

Anzrah’s explosion comes just days after Kenya’s track and field manager Michael Rotich was sent home for offering privileged information to journalists.

Rotich allegedly asked for money in the return for information about when and where athletes would be visited by drug testers.

Kenyan authorities could now hold him for up to four weeks after he allegedly said he was prepared to warn coaches in advance of drug testing if they would pay him £10,000, but Rotich denies any wrongdoing.
