Police arraign 3 for ‘defrauding’ Konga of N35m

The police Special Fraud Unit (SFU) on Wednesday arraigned three men at the Federal High Court in Lagos for allegedly obtaining iPhones worth N35million from an online shopping company, Konga, without paying for them.

John Nweke, Stephen Anike and Kelechi Emenike were accused of issuing Konga with two bank cheques that bounced during presentation in banks.

They were also accused of taking possession of the phones when they should reasonably understand that the phones were stolen or proceeds of fraud.

The alleged offences contravene Section 1 (1)(a)(b) of the Advance Fee Fraud and other Related Offences Act 2006 and Section 15 (1)(a)(ii)(3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act 2004 as amended.
