The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Tuesday quizzed and detained the Independent National Electoral Commission Resident Electoral Commissioner for Abia State, Sylvester Ezeani, for partaking in the sharing of the $115 million slush fund released to top officials of the Peoples Democratic Party and INEC for the 2015 presidential election.
Ezeani was accused of having collected N20 million out of the N23.3 billion slush fund.
He was then the REC in Cross River State.
It was gathered that Ezeani’s explanation to the EFCC on why the money was released to him were unsatisfactory.
Sources said the N20 million came from the N241 million released to the Commission by Alison-Madueke from the $115 million that was converted to Naira.
