Hajj: FCT pilgrims to sit for exams as medical test begins tomorrow

The Federal Capital Territory Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board has warned its intending pilgrims for this year to adhere

strictly to instructions and participate in all activities aimed at successful hajj exercise.

The Director of the Board, Mallam Bashir Muhammad, gave the warning during the commencement of education and orientation exercise for the 2016 intending pilgrims at the permanent hajj camp in Abuja.

Mallam Bashir said the warning became necessary considering the various policies introduced this year by relevant authorities saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that pilgrims attain acceptable hajj.

He warned that examinations would be conducted at the end of the orientation exercises and any intending pilgrim who could not get the required marks would not be allowed to travel to Saudi Arabia through the board.

The Director of the board also disclosed that a befitting hotel accommodation has already been secured for the FCT contingents to this year’s hajj in Makkah Saudi Arabia.

He stated that the hotels to accommodate the pilgrims are secured, closed to the holy mosque in order to enable them perform their religious obligations daily with less stressed.

Similarly, the Director disclosed that the board is to carry out medical screening from Monday July 18 with intending pilgrims from Kwali and Abaji area councils to ascertain their health status before the journey.

He added that intending pilgrims from Kuje and Abuja Municipal Area Councils are billed to undergo medical screening on Tuesday 19, while those from Bwari and Gwagwalada are due for the exercise on Wednesday July 20.

He emphasized that all the activities arranged by the board are mandatory for all intending pilgrims and failure to attend any may lead to disqualification of the intending pilgrims from the exercise.

About 3000 intending pilgrims are expected to perform the hajj through the Board this year.
