Blasphemy: Suspects arrested as Nigerians react to killing of woman in Kano

Two people has been arrested by Police for allegedly killing a female trader, identified as Bridget Patience Agbaheme, who was accused of blasphemy in Kano on Thursday.

The woman was reportedly lynched after she was accused of uttering blasphemous statements against Prophet Mohammed by a mob at Kofar Wambai Market, Plastic Section.

“During the quarrel, the woman was alleged to have uttered an insult against the Prophet Mohammed and she was attacked and lynched to death by an angry mob,” a Police statement said.

It was gathered that the intervention of the police saved the situation from degenerating. Tthe husband of the deceased who was at the scene was rescued to protective custody, as her corpse was taken to the morgue. The statement said the commissioner of police directed that the two suspects be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligent Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation.

Nigerians have since taken to social media platform, Twitter, to react to the incident.
