Fidelity Bank’s $115m case: Imoke released by EFCC

A former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Senator Liyel Imoke, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission after being quizzed briefly for his alleged involvement in the N500 million collected by the Cross Rivers State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ntufam John Okon.

It was gathered that Imoke, who responded to EFCC’s invitation, departed the facility after his interrogation on Wednesday.

The N500m was part of the $115 million allegedly lodged in Fidelity Bank Plc in controversial circumstances during the 2015 electioneering campaign period by the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke.

Others quizzed on Wednesday, as earlier reported, were a former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Imasuen, and a former Secretary to the Edo State Government, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Imasuen and Ize-Iyamu were interrogated by operatives of the EFCC for collecting N700 million out of the $115 million, which Naira value then was put at N23.3 billion.
