Gombe airport VIP lounge gutted by fire

The VIP lounge of the Gombe International Airport, domestic wing, was gutted by fire yesterday.

All the chairs and tables in the building were destroyed, but no incidence of injury was recorded.Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Works Engineer Abubakar Bappah Mahmud  and the State Director of Highways Engineer Desmond Robert confirmed the incident separately to reporters, but could not say what caused the fire.

The Permanent Secretary said God had intervened over the situation as the fire affected only the cushion chairs in the VIP lounge. “We thank God the situation was brought under control,” he said, adding that the incident occurred after closing hours.
